Eve online and gaming with Smitty.
Lately, this blog serves to hold after-action reports for my Eve activities as well as gaming screenshots.

Blue Tears and Literature

"Blue Tears and the Milky Way"
Bioluminescent algae beneath the Milky Way galaxy.  Also known as Red Tide, it's an entirely natural occurrence, but also brings depletion of oxygen and toxins, depending on the species of phytoplankton.  I'll be moving to Mississippi soon, and look forward to seeing this in the Gulf.

Haven't been able to be online much the past few days aside from updating PI and skill queue of my alt who's still in his month of trial account.  When work doesn't allow me to log on, I still read a lot of EVE.  So here's my favorite places to catch up on what's happening in New Eden:
  • Total Eve!  Pretty much a Drudge Report for EVE Online; Articles from The Mittani, EN24, and Crossing Zebras; Podcasts; Blogs; links to r/eve; Twitter feed; etc.  My favorite reads are from Crossing Zebras, especially the "Fuck Ishtars" and "Small Gang Tier List" series
  • r/eve  Shouldn't need to explain the EVE Subreddit.  The subreddit bot automatically posts Dev Blogs and Game News, so it's a good place to catch up on those as well
  • Forums  I check the Wormholes, and Science & Industry threads
And outside of EVE:
  • StarTalk Radio  Neil deGrasse Tyson and Bill Nye are gods.  I listen to the podcast in the car, and learn a lot.
I'm going to be putting together some J-space fleets this weekend after my work load calms down, so I hope to write about that in the near future.

Stellar Evolution

What do you despise? By this you are truly known.
-Frank Herbert, Dune

I despise people who don't embrace what they truly enjoy.  Last summer was a low point for me; in it, I turned to my favorite escape- PC gaming.  I had never played an MMO before, primarily because I knew I would love them so much that it would hinder other aspects of my life.  I took a chance with EVE, and don't regret a single minute.

I'm Smitty
  • United States Air Force Officer
  • Soon attending pilot training
  • Bachelor's in Civil Engineering and Minor in Arabic Language
  • Southerner
  • Sci-Fi reader
  • Astronomy enthusiast
  • CEO of Astral Inferno, a J-Space Corp in a J-Space Alliance
I created this blog for a few reasons.  I'm the manager and founder of a mailing list for my Alliance called something along the lines of "AI/**** Eve is Real", a place to share every-day EVE experiences, lessons learned, lore, and space nerdery.  Disappointed with a lack of interest, and possessing a desire to keep a more permanent record of my EVE experiences, I created Aim High.

I'm looking forward to this.
